Chapter 101: Winning the Poetry Prize (Part 2)

I read (no pop-up full text)

Of course it's also impossible to be too short, just like Gu Cheng wrote in "A Generation": The dark night gave me black eyes, but I use them to search for light.

There is also Pae Do-phi. Like San Ta-er's "Freedom and Love", just two short sentences:

Life is precious, love is priceless.

If for freedom's sake, both can be abandoned

"Freedom and Love" has been translated by many people, but Su Rixing still thinks that Yin Fu's translation is more stable.

Although these short poems are classics, they are too short and even if written out won't get first place.

Of course, some books in the lower body poetry movement are even more unbearable, such as "A Good Breast" or "Listening to the Police Tell the Story of a Girl Being Killed", "Sister Went to the South", "Love Story" and so on. These can be said to be rogue poems, and it is also possible that Su Shi's own realm is not up to par.

  "A Good Breast"

  She got on the bus

  I stared at her

  Chest protruding

  Buttocks bulge

  It's really frustrating

  Drooling with desire

  I stared at his chest

  Staring fixedly

  That swollen chest

I wish I could see through it

  ……

This is not poetry, it's completely a hooligan's mental process, writing this now is definitely inappropriate.

If you want to write something, then write some inspirational poems that spread positive energy. Su Rui Chen sifted through her mind and selected three of them.

"Believe in the Future" by Food Finger, "If Life Deceives You" by Pushkin and an inspirational poem "If" written by Rudyard Kipling for his 12-year-old son.

These three poems are undoubtedly very classic. First, "Believe in the Future" is a representative work of the famous poet Bei Dao, known as the "ancestor of obscure poetry".

"Believe in the Future" and "Love Life" are both very inspiring modern poems, but Su Rixing chose "Believe in the Future". The reason is that this poem is Shicong's masterpiece, but it can be said that he was made by "Believe in the Future" and defeated by "Believe in the Future". At the age of 19, Shicong was labeled as a reactionary and sent to a mental hospital because of this poem. However, he also wrote the famous "In the Mental Hospital" because of this.

Su Shichen's deepest impression of Shi Zhi is this line from his poem: "Believe in the future, love life!", but the drawback is that this was a poem written by Shi Zhi for that era, and Su Shichen could not have experienced that era. Although it can be glossed over, it still doesn't feel quite right.

As for the poem "If Life Deceives You" by Pushkin, although he is Russian, this poem is very famous and has also been selected into middle school textbooks, with a very positive energy, but there is one shortcoming that it is too short. Although it is longer than "A Generation" and "Freedom and Love", it is not much longer.

"If" was written by Rudyard Kipling for his son, so the last sentence is: "So at last you will be strong, my son!"

In his past life, the Earth was still the tombstone of the heavenly king Michael Jackson, so it is very high in popularity, but there are also problems. This article says that it is a motivational poem, but it would be better to say that it is a poem about educating one's own son on how to be a human being, which is obviously not suitable.

"Believe in the Future", "If Life Cheats You", and "If" all have flaws, which can be difficult for Su Rui Chen.

"Xiao Si hasn't thought it through yet?" Ma Jun looked at Su Rui Chen's furrowed brow and couldn't help but ask, "Xiao Si, why don't you just write about life? You're not very fond of saying that human life is like a rushing river, which can't produce beautiful waves without encountering islands and reefs. This sentence isn't bad, Xiao Si, just casually make something up, it shouldn't be difficult for you, right? Get the first prize, a four-star laptop!"

Ma Jun's words suddenly reminded Su Xichen "Right! I can write an Ode to Life!!"

"What is life song? What kind of life song?" Ma Jun was perplexed.

"Ode to Life" is one of the most famous poems by Langfeng, a poet from ancient Earth, and it's very inspiring. The length and theme are also quite suitable.

Originally, Su Zhe didn't remember it for a while, but after Ma Jun reminded him, he completely recalled it. Constantly striving, constantly pursuing, being good at working hard and being good at waiting! This is the last two paragraphs of "Ode to Life", which fully reveals the main theme.

  Just write this!

"Ma Jun, I also thought of a poem for you." Two A4 papers were written with "If Life Cheats You" and "Ode to Life", Ma Jun wrote his name under "If Life Cheats You".

The name above "Ode to Life" is Su Shi's.

More than an hour passed and it was time to hand in the assignment, then there were special people who came to collect the assignments.

"Xiao Si, you're indeed amazing. That 'If Life Cheats You' is written too well, but I'm a bit confused about that 'Ode to Life'. I think 'If Life Cheats You' is better than 'Ode to Life'." Ma Jun said so.

If not considering the rhyme and connotation, "If Life Cheats You" is indeed much more classic than "Ode to Life". However, poetry isn't just about fluency. But Su Rui Chen suddenly realized that he might have misjudged one thing - ordinary people usually only look at the fluency of modern poems and don't care about the content. I wonder if the ranking selection for this activity won't be like this too?

His "Ode to Life" might not even get a consolation prize.

"Xiao Si won't that old man be the judge, right?" Ma Jun pointed to an old man in the activity stage who was reviewing manuscripts. The old man had a good complexion, sharp eyes and a spirited appearance, going through the manuscripts one by one.

It's no wonder that Su Xichen and Ma Jun didn't know each other. This old man is named Yang Jiezhi, his identity is not ordinary, he is a professor at Qinghua University in Beijing, and has published three collections of poetry, and is quite prestigious in the poetry world.

Some people say that Tsinghua University has two pillars. One is Zhou Jingpeng, who previously criticized "Huang Yu". The other one is the person sitting backstage now.

Of course, his reputation is so great, but Su Rui Chen and Ma Jun are not fond of reading poetry, so it's natural that they don't know him.

As for why Professor Yang Jie, who is so renowned, would appear at this event, that's another story.

"What is this written as? Is this even considered poetry?! Yang Jie's current state can be described as extremely infuriated, as if a barrel of gunpowder ready to explode at any moment."

What made him so angry was these strange things, yes, things, that could be called poetry.

Yang Jie took a deep breath and continued reading, but didn't see anything slightly better in terms of poetry.

"Can it be that by putting seven characters together and writing four lines, this thing can be called a seven-character poem?" Yang Jiezhi deeply detested the phenomenon of some ancient poems completely disregarding tonal harmony!

The speed of review is getting faster and faster, at first it took about a minute to read one chapter, but now it has been compressed to ten seconds.

However, Yang Jie felt that looking at this kind of thing for ten seconds was a bit redundant, but Yang Jie was still quite responsible and basically had to scan it.

"I'm getting more and more confused as I get older, actually believing Rain Xuan's nonsense that holding an event in the square can find one or two talented people. If everyone had this kind of talent, wouldn't poets be too cheap?" Yang Jiezi sighed and suddenly saw an interesting article.

"This topic 'If Life Cheats You' is not bad, I hope the content isn't too poor and insults this topic." Yang Jiezhi continued to read on, exceeding his expectations, it was an extremely brilliant article.

"If life deceives you, don't be anxious, don't worry! On gloomy days, remain calm and serene..." Yang Jie's slow recitation was quite good, a great poem.

Actually, "If Life Cheats You" has two versions. One version is the original translation, and the other version is the one in junior high school textbooks, which was modified to conform more to Chinese people's aesthetic tastes, and Su Renshan also wrote this version.

"No matter whether it's the meaning or the poem itself, this poem is much better than others, at least two levels higher. If there's no accident, this article will be the first place this time."

"Ma Jun, never heard of this name, looks like a newcomer." After "If Life Cheats You" came out, Yang Jie's mood improved a lot.

The following poem is nothing compared to "If Life Deceives You".

Suddenly discovered a strange thing "Why are these two handwriting the same?"

"If life deceives you" can be said to be the best one he has seen so far, so it left a deep impression on him, but then he found another poem with the same handwriting.

"The names are different, one is Ma Jun and the other is Su Xichen, could it be that they were written by the same person?"

After comparing the two poems, Yang Jie discovered that they were indeed written by the same person. Ma Jun and Su Shi Chen knew each other very well. Su Shi Chen was very talented in writing poetry, but Ma Jun did not have this talent. So Su Shi Chen wrote two poems and gave one to Ma Jun, which is why the handwriting of the two poems is consistent, but the signatures are different.

Yang is extremely intelligent and can infer the whole thing just by reading "If Life Cheats You" and "Ode to Life".

"Suxi Chen's name sounds familiar, I think I've heard it somewhere." Yang Jie thought for a moment but couldn't recall. "If you gave such an excellent poem like 'If Life Cheats You' to your friend, you should have the confidence to write even more brilliant poems. Let me take a look."

"Ode to Life, what a big topic." Yang Jie took this "Ode to Life" very seriously.

  Read it once, twice...

"What is this?!!" Yang Jie's eyes widened in shock, as if he had discovered something astonishing.

Then looked at this "Ode to Life" scribbling on paper...

The host stood on the stage again when it was time to announce the results.

The first announcement was of the ten consolation prizes, and those whose names were read out had mixed reactions, some looking delighted while others looked gloomy.

Delighted because they were selected, but gloomy-faced because they thought too highly of themselves and didn't believe that what they wrote only got a consolation prize.

Then came the five third-prize winners of a mobile phone, and the five people who won the third prize happily accepted the mobile phones.

Then there were three second prizes, and the third prize was about to read out the poem he wrote. One of them was Su Xichen's "If Life Cheats You", and the other two were a long and short poem and a modern lyrical poem that were also quite good.

"If life deceives you" is easy to understand and very concise, once read out it caused a great sensation. Then Ma Jun went up to receive the award, such a brilliant poem was written by a child like a student, which made people even more surprised and discussed.

"Now, the first prize will be awarded. However, at this moment, I have to step down and give way to someone more persuasive. Please welcome Professor Yang Jiezou from Tsinghua University." The host retreated to the back of the stage.

"It's Yang Jie! I've even bought his poetry collection."

"I know, Yang Jiezi is Tsinghua's most famous professor."

"I didn't expect that Mo Yun Bookstore could invite Professor Yang Jie." "I heard that the eldest daughter of the Liu Group is Professor Yang Jie's great-granddaughter."

  ……

"It seems that old man is quite a famous person after all," said Ma Jun.

Su Shilei nodded and listened to the discussions beside him. It seemed that this old man named Yang Jiezhi was indeed not simple in identity.

"May I ask which one is Mr. Su Shi Chen?"

"I'm going." He squeezed out of the crowd.

Yang Jie's eyes flashed with a hint of surprise, apparently not expecting Su Xichen to be so young...
