It's not just Gu Miao who feels a little excited, Gao Wei looks calm on the surface, but his eyes also reveal a thread of excitement. (Cotton Candy)
Shaanxi is a multi-dynasty ancient capital, and so far many tomb groups have been discovered here. It has always been a favorite place for archaeologists and people who like antiques. The world-famous Terracotta Warriors were also found in Xi'an, Shaanxi.
Mr. Qiao may have been here many times, but he didn't show any excitement, his facial expression was much softer than before, and a hint of a smile appeared.
"Is this your first time here?" Mr. Qiao asked suddenly, looking at the bustling temporary trading point and turning his head to ask.
Gu Meng nodded: "This is my first time here, when I was a junior, the school organized a trip to Shaanxi for study, but at that time I had something on, so I didn't come. Today I finally have the opportunity to be here."
As soon as she thought of not following the school to Xi'an last time, Gu Mei felt a little regretful. At that time, Professor Wang mentioned it to her several times, but she politely declined, just to celebrate Du Haosheng's birthday together.
Thinking back now, it was really stupid!
"Shaanxi is a great place, people in our line of work should travel around more. This trading point is temporary, I've already asked someone about it, this is the closest trading point to the newly discovered site, everyone take a look, maybe you can find something good." Mr. Qiao smiled.
Everyone followed along and chimed in, then agreed on a meeting time before dispersing to wander around at leisure.
Although this trading point is temporary, it's still a bit big. If everyone goes together to take a stroll, it will be somewhat time-consuming and energy-wasting. That's why we split up.
Gu Mei didn't follow Mr. Qiao, but instead went for a stroll with Qin Sheng.
This wasn't something she had asked for, anyway by the time they got to the later stages everyone else had dispersed and it was just her and Qin Sheng left. Qin Sheng hadn't said he wanted to act separately so she didn't have any reason to let others wander off on their own, besides this temporary trading point was chaotic with all sorts of people mixed together, having a man by her side made Gu Cang feel a lot safer.
Perhaps in pursuit of that old flavor, most things at the temporary trading point are dirty and many things have dirt on them.
Most of these muddy things are used to numb those who don't quite understand the way, and those who do understand the way basically won't put their focus on those muddy things.
Gu Meng didn't dare to say how much experience he had. However, whether it was intentionally made dirty and old or if that's just what it looked like, Gu Meng could still tell at his current level.
Not only could she see it for the most part, but even Qin Sheng beside her could also see it.
Since the Y-country exchange meeting competition, Gu Mian had a deeper understanding of Qin Sheng's ability to identify antiques.
Although there were many people at the temporary trading point, it was not yet to the extent that people were crowded and unable to move. Gu Mei and Qin Sheng casually chose a direction and walked past, side by side.
Most things are placed on the ground, some stalls sell one less thing. Some vendors sell one and then replenish it with another from the side.
"Have you been to Shaanxi before?" He asked Qin Sheng while casually looking around.
"I've been to Xian a couple of times, but I haven't been to this side before," Qin Sheng replied honestly.
"We two have never been here before, wandering around like this. Don't know if we'll get lost or not." Gu Mian joked and said.
"It's not like I'd get lost or anything, my sense of direction is pretty good." Qin Sheng's expression changed and he suddenly grabbed Gu Bian's hand, pulling her towards him: "Be careful!"
Gu Mei's eyes widened and she stumbled forward, almost falling onto Qin Sheng's body.
"Sorry, sorry......" Gu Miao finally stood firm, turned around and saw a man with darker skin than Gao Wei carrying a large sack apologizing to them.
She glanced at the big sack that the man was carrying, which was bulging and seemed to be filled with hard objects. If her head were hit by that sack, she would either bleed or get a big bump even if she didn't bleed.
"Has she been touched?" Qin Sheng asked with his head down, looking at Gu Mian.
"It's nothing. Luckily you pulled me up." Gu Ming shook her head.
"There are so many people here, be careful." Qin Sheng carefully sized up Gu Mian, making sure she was really okay. Only then did he turn his head to look at the man carrying a sack of rice with a hint of dissatisfaction in his tone.
"Yes, yes, yes." The man nodded repeatedly and didn't make any excuses. He said a few apologetic words in a row, smiled at Gu Mian and Qin Sheng, and finally saw that Gu Mian was not seriously injured, so he turned around and left.
Gu Meng stood up straight, quickly checked herself all over, and secretly felt relieved that her clothes and hair were all in order.
"What's wrong?" Gu Mian raised her head and found that Qin Sheng's eyes were still looking in the direction where the man had left.
Qin Sheng turned his head and glanced at Gu Mei with a low voice: "That person seems to be Lin Hai."
"Lin Hai?" Mr. Gu Ming was stunned for a moment, and then reacted: "You're referring to Lin Hai of Yang Lin's team?"
"Yes." Qin Sheng discreetly scanned the surroundings, pulling Gu Mian away from the crowded stall and walking towards a less populated area: "However, I'm not certain. I've seen photos of four people on Yang Lin's side, but Lin Hai's photo was somewhat blurry, I only got a rough idea."
"What makes you think he's Lin Hai?" Gu Mian asked.
Qin Sheng pointed to his own eyebrow: "On the left side of Lin Hai's eyebrow, there is a small scar that is not very obvious, but if you get closer, you can still see it clearly."
"Could it be that they've also come here today?" Gu Mian couldn't help but say aloud.
Mr. Qiao said this morning that Yang Lin and others lived a little further away, and it was likely to come over the day after tomorrow, but as a result, I saw Lin Hai here today, which is really unexpected.
This temporary trading point is less than a 20-minute drive from the hotel where Gu Miao and others are staying. Lin Hai and others have all come here, why not just come over directly to meet with them, isn't it a waste of time waiting around like this?
Qin Sheng lowered his head and thought for a moment before saying to Gu Mian: "Should we follow them and take a look, maybe there will be some surprises."
"What do you mean..." Gu Mian leaned in close to Qin Sheng and lowered her voice, continuing: "Are they also selling things here?"
"If that person is really Lin Hai, then it's probably true. Lin Hai isn't a collector of antiques, people like them who get their hands on something will first think of getting rid of it as soon as possible, the longer they hold onto it the more unsafe it becomes. Anyway, we don't have anything else to do now, let's just go and investigate." Qin Sheng said slowly.
Gu Meng nodded in agreement with Qin Sheng's proposal. Anyway, wandering around aimlessly like this didn't make much sense either.
The two of them hit it off immediately and set off in the direction that Lin Hai had left.
That person walked in the northwest direction, where there were not a few people. Gu Mian and Qin Sheng carefully avoided physical contact with others along the way, and Gu Mian even pulled his bag to the front of his body.
Where there are many people, there are many pickpockets; such temporary gathering places for transactions are no exception.
"There." Suddenly, Qin Sheng stopped and pulled Gu Mei to a stall with more people.
"Where?" Gu Mian also didn't dare to look around randomly, and instead asked Qin Sheng in a low voice.
Two people stuck together, plus they have a foreign accent, so outsiders think that if they are not a couple in love, then they must be newlyweds on their honeymoon here. Although there are fewer people coming here for their honeymoon, it's not unheard of either.
"On the left side, next to a small shed." Qin Sheng seemed not to notice that they were too close, and leaned in closer to Gu Mian's ear to whisper.
Gu Mei's ears felt the warm air exhaled by Qin Sheng, and she couldn't help but feel a tingling sensation from her body. Out of instinctive reaction, she slightly leaned to one side, and quietly looked in the direction indicated by Qin Sheng.
As expected, the person who looked like Lin Hai stopped beside a small shed on the left rear side and started taking things out of a sack one by one, seemingly preparing to set up a stall.
"Are we going now?" asked Gu Mian.
Qin Sheng shook his head: "It's better to go later, we just met a while ago, and now going together seems a bit deliberate."
"Hmm, let's take a look over here." Gu Ming said as she walked towards a stall in front of her.
On this stall, all the ancient coins are placed, most of which seem to be from the Qin, Han and Tang dynasties. They have not been categorized, but are scattered on the plastic paper laid out by the vendor, for passersby to look at casually.
The stall owner held a long pipe in his hand, puffing on a self-made cigarette, looking leisurely and not paying much attention to his own stall. In fact, he was a sharp-eyed person. If it was a customer, he wouldn't say much, letting you look around freely. But if it was a petty thief who didn't know better, that wouldn't be allowed - one pipe would knock him out.
Gu Meng had no interest in the old coins of the stall owner, but was quite interested in the pipe in his hand.
The stall owner's pipe looked rough in style, should be a thing of the Ming and Qing dynasties, the mouthpiece seemed to be made of yellow jade, not very delicate, but also had a unique flavor, unfortunately, grandfather didn't like this kind of long pipe, otherwise she could go ask the boss if he could spare it.
As for those ancient Qin and Han coins... it's a matter of personal opinion.
"Miss, would you like to take a look at these things? They're all passed down from our ancestors." Gu Mei's attention was still on the antique coin vendor's pipe, and she unknowingly walked over to another stall. She only came back to her senses when she heard the vendor's words, looked up, and saw that it was a stall selling Tang Dynasty replicas.
