Gu Yu lit another cigarette out of habit, stood on the balcony, staring at the faint glow emanating from the sunroom, and slowly took a drag.
The cigarette was finished, and the lamp in the sunroom still showed no signs of being extinguished. Gu Yu Sheng leaned his hands on the railing, staring at the hazy night for a moment before withdrawing his gaze, his expression pale as he turned back to the bedroom, got into bed and turned off the light.
When he woke up, the sky outside the window was already bright. Gu Yu Sheng touched his mobile phone and squinted at the time, 7:30 in the morning.
It wasn't until he lifted up the covers and got out of bed that he noticed there was only one person on the bed.
Gu Yu didn't linger for too long, he just slightly furrowed his brow and directly entered the bathroom.
After washing up, Gu Yu Sheng put on a black suit, tied his tie while walking towards the bedroom door.
She had just stepped out of the door when she heard the voice of the housekeeper, who was shouting from the end of the corridor in surprise: "Miss? Why are you sleeping here?"
Gu Yu stopped tying his tie and turned his head towards the sound. The girl who was reading a script in the wicker chair last night had been woken up by the butler. She seemed to still be in a daze, looking slightly bewildered. After a while, she smiled softly at the butler and said in a gentle voice, "I stayed up too late rehearsing my lines and didn't realize I fell asleep here."
"She didn't even cover herself with a quilt, I don't know if she caught a chill..." The housekeeper said with concern, then suddenly added in a low voice: "...Miss, look at you, your body is all bitten by mosquitoes, and there are some on your face too. Let me go get some medicine to rub on them for you..."
"It's okay." The girl stopped the butler, her face showing a bit of struggle, and after a while, she still asked in a low voice: "Is Mr. Gu awake?"
"She's already awake. Just now when I came over, I took a glance into the bedroom and there was no one on the bed. Probably washing up." After a pause, the housekeeper said: "Breakfast is ready, Miss. Do you want to go down for your meal now?"
"No need, I still have some lines of the script to memorize. My memory is better in the morning, so I'll go down after I've finished memorizing them. You can go call Mr. Gu for dinner first..."
She hadn't finished speaking, but Gu Yu Sheng had already shifted his gaze back. As he walked downstairs, he continued to tie his tie with an air of nonchalance. However, a hint of chilliness crept into the space between his beautiful eyebrows and eyes, making him appear even more aloof and distant than before.
When Gu Yu had walked halfway up the stairs, the butler rushed down from upstairs and stopped in his tracks when he saw him: "Good morning, Mr. Gu."
Gu Yu Sheng seemed as if he hadn't heard the butler's words at all, and continued walking downstairs.
The housekeeper was used to his indifferent attitude and continued to ask: "Mr. Gu, breakfast is ready, would you like to eat now?"
